Oh, there you are!

24 September 2011

15 Jobs on the Data Terminal!

At the end of our last night shift (Reminder to new readers my shift is12hrs, 2 days, 2 nights & 5 off).
8 case sheets in the folder!

So just about half our work we either where;
A minute off and cancelled,
A crew cleared that was closer,
A higher priority dropped in or
It was nothing.

31M - At a Medical Centre with chest pain, their ECG analysed a possible AMI, our Lifepak with nearly 4X the sensitivity said it wasn't. Random chest lead elevation & Hx strengthened the diagnosis. Tx anyway.
51M - Assault with chest wall injuries. Took him to the little inner city hospital where there were some new faces on deck.
Teenage F's x 2 - IP and vomiting. Much to our surprise the brother of one was there and he was not pissed and was making arrangements to get them home. Gave him some emisis bags and left him to it.
??? - Someone wanting an ambulance called from a payphone and hung up. When we arrived there was a lady in the booth who had an issue about or with the Dept of Housing and was trying to call them (@2300hrs?) but didn't want us.
57F - Sudden onset Tachycardia. No Hx, no cause, normal folk in the city for a wedding tomorrow, we collected them from their motel room.
51M - Hospital to Hospital transfer! Yes Ol' Mate from just up the page. Seems the new staff were more than happy to do a little work and pop in a chest tube after they confirmed the 3 # ribs and the pneumothorax but didn't have the wards for appropriate care of the pt, hence the transfer. Not that other staff here couldn't do the same work but they will seriously whinge and bitch an moan and even put in a complaint about the appropriateness of the pt. A very nice change.
34M - Suicidal intent, OD on anti-convulsants, searched, detained and sectioned under Mental Health.
55F - # Left R/U falling over on the dance floor at 0430 and I'm sorry but the clothes that she was in, would have looked trashy on a <30y/o,,,,, oh it was just sad.

See you at the big One.

Taz
